Christopher C. Dwyer Chris completed a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours in 1983 and after being admitted as a barrister practised at the Sydney Bar from March 1984 to August 2012. From 1984-1990 he practised in a wide range of jurisdictions including: construction, crime; family law; workers compensation; motor vehicle personal injury and property damage cases; mining; Family Provision Act; land and environment; commercial and employment law. From 1990 to August 2012 his practice has primarily focused on commercial law and construction disputation. In August 2012 he accepted the position as in-house counsel with a Rockhampton-based group of construction and manufacturing companies employing approximately 360 people.
The parent company of the group was a medium tier construction business and one of the top four privately-owned construction corporations in Queensland, undertaking building projects throughout the state. This experience proved to be a valuable part of Chris' understanding of larger scale construction projects. In 2008, Chris was awarded the Professional Certificate in Arbitration by the University of Adelaide and was the winner of the Achievement of Excellence Award, given by the university. Chris Dwyer was also appointed to the District and Local Courts Panels of Mediators and Arbitrators.
